Keep up the good work; I cannot understand how Lone failed in her work. The orangs’ must be wonderful to work with and for.

A few months ago, I started watching “Orangutan Diary” on Belgian television and after a few episodes, I got totally hooked on these cute, wonderful and human-like animals. Laughing my head off at times, seeing the younger ones behave mischievously and at other times, crying my eyes out when watching an incident with a bad ending.
If you could pass on a message to Lone and her team on my behalf, I would love to say how much I admire their work. I think you are a superwoman, Lone, and together with the local people involved in the project, you are doing a tremendous job in preserving and caring for such a fine and amazing species. Watching the series also made me realise that it is not only the rainforest in South-America or Africa disappearing at such an incredible rate but also there, in Asia and especially the heart of Borneo. I have always had a weak spot for animals and the orangutans have definitely been added to my list of favourite animals now. Injustice is one of the things I cannot stand and I can’t help but think that the injustice done to these animals is just so huge. Such a fine species, so close to us, human beings, and yet, all we seem to do, is destroy their habitat, just so we could make more money by turning rainforest into palm oil plantations. Sometimes, I see the expressions on the faces of the orangutans and it is as if I see all the sadness in the world, just reflected in these tiny eyes. Dear Lone, keep up the good work and please don’t despair! I know that we want a different world for them, away from the cages, out in the wild. But you are doing a wonderful job in caring for these beautiful and intelligent animals and helping them get back into the wild, where they belong! Thank you! Greetings from Belgium, Heide

Im only young but ever since I watched Orangutangs Diary I realised these beautiful creatures need help and all the love and care they can get. I would love to have hands on experiance and willing to devote my life to help these creatures . In a year or so I will be starting College and I am unsure on what route to take. I need some guidance but i would love to work in a centre just like this but I need to know how to get there.
Hoping I can make a difference for the Orangutans !

Dear Lone,
My name is Eleanor from the UK and I am 15 years old. I think you are one of the most amazing people in the world. You have dedicated half a lifetime to saving the orangutans in Borneo. To me that is the most amazing and giving thing anyone can do. I dont know how people can destroy forests and kill orangutans just for a little money, it’s sick! These beautiful, intelligent animals are just like us humans. I have just finished watching Orangutan Diaries and your work really is facinating. It must feel amazing to see orangutans being brought into the centre and then later released into the wild (the lucky ones). I have always loved animals and after watching Orangutan Diaries I especially love orangutans. I want to help first hand with your never ending project and I hope one day I can. Lone and the team, please keep up the excellent work, I know you can save the orangutans.

Hi,
I wholeheartedly support your orangutan versus palm oil site. i think that they should conserve all the trees and animals in the rainforest and think you are doing great work making people aware of where palm oil comes from and the real cost of it! It really annoys me when chocolate companies like Cadbury’s put rainforest alliance stickers on their chocolate bars (making people think they are rainforest-friendsly) yet make it from rainforest-destroying plam oil! it is hypocritical and misleading.

How many people adopt each orangutan? Can we keep the same orangutan every year?

Hello Melanie.
Anyone who wishes is free to adopt an Orangutan. It is one of our main sources of fundraising and key income to support the rehabilitation of the Orangutans. You can certainly renew year on year if you wish. Thank you for thinking of the apes!

I have just started following you on Twitter so forgive me for not being aware of all your work-I am a complete Orangutan devotee & I am trying to get involved with as many Organizations as I can & I promise to help and support as much as I possibly can.The little I have read about you fills me with awe & admiration, the dedication that is given to these beautiful creatures is heartening.I just wish everyone was on the Orangutans side and not on the side of profit and greed at the expense of the Orangutan. It is so frustrating to read everyday of more horror stories-why do they have such a battle to survive-it is Man that is the invader here, why should we punish the Orangutan for living in THEIR forests? It is so wrong,it must be stopped. After reading a tweet on June 15th 2012 I would like to ask about Shelton?Who is he & what is his story? Is he happier now?Thank you for all the good work you are doing,I will endeavour to remain a loyal supporter.
